Juice Plus Alternative…  Does JuiceFestiv really compare?

What you read here will surprise you! When I found out that JuiceFestiv was a better alternative to the Juice Plus capsules, I had to try it and investigate myself.

As someone who normally eat fruits and vegetables, I still felt that was not enough. That was the reason for taking Juice Plus daily for the past several years. When I found out there was an alternative that is cheaper and (gasp!) better, I had to buy it and try it. And indeed, I found that it was better in many ways.

So what is the benefit of taking Juice Plus or an alternative?
It is the variety of fruits and vegetables that is in each capsule. While Juice Plus contains juice powder concentrate from 30 different vegetables, fruits, and grains, the alternative (JuiceFestiv) has a whopping 46.

Thats 23 fruits, 18 veggies, and 5 grains & greens.

Not only that, but the blend of those 46 ingredients in JuiceFestiv are certified organic (by Oregon Tilth).In addition to these organic ingredients, Natrol (the manufacturer of JuiceFestiv) has added Selenium for improved metabolism, as well as probiotics and enzymes for digestive health. Trust me, I noticed an improvement in my digestive health right away (don’t ask the details).

Here are the other ingredients and their nutritional equivalent:

  • Beta Carotene – 1/2 cup carrots + 1 mango
  • Vitamin C – 1 1/3 apples + 1/3 cup oranges + 2/3 cup strawberries
  • Vitamin B6 – 9 1/2 cups broccoli + 8 bell peppers + 8 tomatoes
  • Vitamin E – 8 cups spinach + 2 1/2 cups sweet potatoes + 5 cups mangos + 5 cups papayas
  • Folic Acid – 4 cups brussels sprouts + 4 cups spinach + 6 cups oat bran + 4 oranges

(One thing to note: JuiceFestiv recommends taking 2 capsules, one time daily, with a meal. Since there is a Veggie blend and a Fruit blend, that would equal 4 capsules in one meal. I would not recommend taking that many. Rather, I would take 1-2 capsules per meal, so that I would take something each meal. That way, my body can better assimilate the enzymes and absorb the nutrients.)

When I found out about these ingredients, I was thoroughly impressed. However, what shocked me was when I saw the price tag.

Yes, the price.

Huge difference between the two.

There is no comparison.

The cost of Juice Plus is less than $1.50 per day, which is equivalent to about 1 pound of fresh fruit. (Update: the price is actually lower now than when I first wrote this article).

The cost of JuiceFestiv is nearly a quarter of that price! Now with that kind of competitive pricing, anyone can afford to consume their daily fruits, vegetables, grains, and greens. I take it daily and recommend it to anyone who could benefit from consuming more fruits, vegetables, grains and greens.

So here is what you can get for 40 cents a day: 46 organic fruits, vegetables, greens and grains, selenium, enzymes, probiotics, Vitamin A, C, E, B6, B12, and Folic Acid. Now that is shocking. In fact, I even purchased extra supply to give to my family and close friends. I’m sure they will appreciate the gesture, and be even more grateful to find the low price when they decide to order more.

JuiceFestiv vs Juice Plus

In the end, when you compare the two products, JuiceFestiv (JF) is more than just an equivalent to Juice Plus, it is cheaper and contains more healthy ingredients. You may be wondering, is Juice Plus organic, and you will quickly find that it is not, but JF has mostly organic ingredients, which is another reason why it is the better. If you are looking for cheap JP capsules, look no further, because you have the answer right here. If you are looking for JP benefits, you can find them in the ingredients below and what they provide for the body. Is there really a product that can provide the same (or better) benefits as Juice Plus supplements?

First off, lets take a look at the ingredients in the Juice Plus supplements.

Juice Plus is a whole based nutrition, so it contains juice powder concentrate from 30 different fruits, vegetables and grains. Here is a list of the ingredients along with their key benefits.

  • oranges – have over 170 different phytochemicals and more than 60 flavonoids, and many of these have been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and strong antioxidant effects.

Is there a difference between organic and non-organic produce other than their price tags?

Of course, and here are some of the reasons why eating organic produce is better:

1. More Nutritious

Studies have shown that organic produce are richer in nutrients and antioxidants and lower in heavy metals, especially cadmium, and pesticides. Organic produce are grown without synthetic fertilizers, so the plants must obtain their nutrients from a natural source, from sources with more minerals and nutrients. This results in produce that has more minerals.

2. Tastes better

Minerals not only contribute to more nutritious food, but also to food with more intense and complex flavors. In other words, organic food simply tastes better.

3. No GMO

Organic food is by definition non-GMO (genetically modified organism). GMOs are plants and animals created by combining the DNA of different species in a way that would not be possible in nature or with traditional cross-breeding. In the United States, GMOs comprise a large percentage of commercial corn, soy, sugar beets, and alfalfa crops. Genetic engineering makes plants more weather and pest-resistant, but the result can be damaging to our bodies when consumed. One such example is the GMO corn that produces its own pesticide Bt-toxin, which helps the corn kill insects, but also damages the human gut lining, causing leaky gut.

4. Pesticide free

More than 400 chemical pesticides are routinely used in conventional farming and residues are often present in non-organic food. Ever heard of the dirty dozen? They are produce that are typically sprayed with so much pesticide that you cannot wash it off or remove it. Tips to help you eat more Fruits and Vegetables each day

  1. Keep fruit where you can see it. That way you’ll be more likely to eat it. Some fruits may need some preparation to make it easier to eat (avocados, mangoes, etc), while other fruits are in the simple “pick up and bite” form (apples, bananas, grapes).
  2. Explore the produce aisle and choose something new. Eating a limited selection every day can lead to nutrient deficiencies. Variety is key to a healthy diet.
  3. Skip the potatoes. Rather than eating potatoes or other high starch vegetables, choose vegetables that are packed with more nutrients.
  4. Make it a meal. Try cooking new recipes that include more vegetables, or just add different or new vegetables to your everyday recipes. Salads and stir fries are two ideas for getting tasty vegetables on your plate.

Now you know why you should eat more fruit and veggies, and how to get in a habit of eating more. The next step is to DO IT.

Why Juice Plus is expensive when compared to alternative products

Juice Plus too expensive

For those of us who have used Juice Plus, it may seem quite expensive compared to alternative products that can be purchased at health stores or online. There is a reason for this. Juice Plus would argue that they put a lot of research and investment into their product, resulting in higher quality and costs. However, this does not really hold up when you look at alternative products that seem to be higher quality (i.e. organic ingredients found in JuiceFestiv whereas Juice Plus does not have organic ingredients).

I believe the main reason for the price difference is the marketing strategy. The difference lies in the fact that Juice Plus runs off a MLM (multi-level marketing) strategy, whereas the competitors do retail marketing. MLM companies have to pay commissions on their sales to many levels of distributors, hence the higher cost for their products. Whereas in retail marketing, there really is no commission to be paid. The stores that sell the product make a profit from a slight mark-up, but the mark-up is no where near that of MLM products. The only edge that MLM products have over typical retail products would be their uniqueness, or proprietary edge. When competitors produce similar products, that edge is lost.

Another reason why Juice Plus may cost more is that the product manufacturers may not produce as much as other companies, so that each batch costs more to produce. For illustration sake, we will say that Juice Plus is product A, and a retail alternative is product B. The company for product B can order 10 thousand units to be produced at a price of $2 per unit, whereas Juice Plus orders 100 units to be produced at $15 each. Obviously, the numbers are exaggerated, but I think it proves the point.

So here is a lesson that can be learned. Before purchasing a product from a MLM company, or before becoming a distributor for such a company, it would be wise to do the research on competing products in the market. I wish I learned my lesson sooner, but I did not do my research until over a year into my product payments. However, the good news is that I was able to find a worthy alternative to the Juice Plus supplements.

With all this being said, part of the reason for my purchasing the Juice Plus products was also to support a friend who had just become a distributor. And I know family members who have done the same with other companies (helping friends out). But I feel that this is not necessary, as distributors are usually paid less than the difference between the MLM product and the retail alternative.
